I am Honored to be One of the Persons in the ’50 Faces of Nigeria’ Film Documentary

Nigeria celebrates 50years on October 1st, 2010 and I am truly honored and humbled to be a part of the 50 Faces of Nigeria; a new groundbreaking documentary spotlighting fifty of the most prolific Nigerians around the world. The film captures the true heart and soul of Nigeria and its people like never before.

The fifty include inspiring Nigerians in  the fashion and entertainment industries such as  Singer [N]neka, Designers Chris Aire and Lisa Folawiyo (Jewel by Lisa), Storm 360 Executive Obi Asika, Publisher Bola Atta and Supermodel Oluchi.

“These influential Nigerians from all over the world are being interviewed with the overarching question: “Is Nigeria truly free?” While stirring the hearts and spirits of every participant and viewer, the documentary dispels the stereotypes of the country’s “lack” in the area of progress and at the same time creates a platform for making lasting changes that will benefit this generation and those to come.”

T.I and Tiny Arrested for Drug Possession #Search & Seizure #Crimes

I really like T.I and Tiny and find myself wishing only the best for them. So, I am never happy to hear their legal woes and brush with the law. But as I say often when life happens, “it is what it is.” Now it’s about fixing the issue. Hopefully, they can sort out their legal issues. In the meantime, let’s look at their arrest and specifically the “search and seizure” of the controlled substance(s) allegedly found on them which the police claims formed the basis for the arrest.

As we first reported, cops pulled over T.I.’s ultra-expensive Maybach on Sunset Blvd around 10:18 PM (Sept. 2nd, 2010) for a traffic violation and then smelled marijuana. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, cops say they found a controlled substance — we’re told it was not cocaine. The class of the controlled substance that was found includes methamphetamines and ecstasy.

Both were booked on felony possession of a controlled substance.

They were released on $10,000 bail.

As we previously reported, T.I. was released from federal prison back in December — where he served 7 months behind bars for illegally possessing machine guns and silencers.

Law enforcement confirms … T.I. is still on probation from the gun conviction, which means last night’s arrest could qualify as a violation of his probation … and he could be sent back to prison.” . . .

“We’re now told that the substance was allegedly ecstasy. And, our law enforcement sources call it a “small amount.”

The pills are being tested.”” ~TMZ

Actor Taylor Lautner Sues Over $300,000 Trailer Home #Breach of Contract

Actor Taylor Lautner Sues over $300,000 trailer.

“In a new lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Lautner claims he made a deal with McMahon’s RV to purchase a personal trailer for around $300,000 … a trailer he could use while shooting his new movie, “Abduction.”

According to the suit, the deal was that the trailer would be tricked out and delivered by no later than June 21 … but it wasn’t.

Lautner claims breach of contract and fraud and wants unspecified damages.” ~TMZ

We will definitely get into fraud causes of action in future. For now, the suit gets interesting  with a weird offer from the defendant.

#Madea Goes to the Court of Appeals & Wins!

U.S Court of Appeals sides with Tyler Perry to say he did not plagiarize  the work of another.

“TYLER PERRY is breathing a sigh of relief after a U.S. appeals court cleared the filmmaker of accusations he stole the idea for his movie DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN.

Donna West’s case against the actor/screenwriter was dismissed two years ago (08) after jurors in a Texas court found she did not have enough evidence to support her claim that Perry lifted material from her play, Fantasy of a Black Woman, to use in his 2005 blockbuster.

The playwright launched an appeal against the verdict but on Monday (23Aug10), the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled there was no improper conduct in the trial, according to the Associated Press.

West’s play was performed three times in 1991 in Dallas, and she contended Perry could have gained access to the script in 1998 when he presented his plays at the Dallas Black Academy of Arts and Letters.

Perry’s film took in more than $50 million (£33 million) at the box office.” ~AP

There are three general basic courts in most jurisdictions in the USA. There is the trial court. If you’ve watched shows like Law & Order, The Practice, Matlock, Perry Mason, that is a preview of what a trial court looks like. The decisions from the trial court can be appealed. This gets us to the second kind of courts, the Appeals court. The third and final court, generally speaking, is the Supreme Court. Each state has a Supreme Court. Now, independent of the state courts I just mentioned, the exact same replica of courts happen on the federal level. The Supreme Court is the one we are all familiar with on a national level with Justices Sotomayor, among others on the bench.
