Thanks Yetunde. Our goal is to keep potential clients informed so when they solicit us for legal representation, they already have knowledge of the basic legal principles and we can get on with their matter. Thanks for being a reader.

Cheers,
Uduak

Nice pic Uduak.

Funny, I was just going to send you an e-mail asking some questions about fashion law.
This article has answered most of my questions. I just have one more question:

Does a student from a fashion law program have any significant advantage over another student from a regular law program (say business law) who has shown an interest in fashion law or who has an extensive knowledge of fashion law?

Thank you!

We represent Ms. Nance.

Corrections to some of the world wide reportage concerning this case can be found at thecopyrightzone.com "Ya Never Know - Now On Broadway".

Some points for your readers:

1. The image was colorized, cropped, altered and in some cases, projected in reverse;
2. Use was made in souvenir books, cd inserts, pr videos and music videos in addition to the extensive use in the production;
3. Ms. Nance is a well known African Scholar who was easily reachable having resided and worked in NYC for many years. No attempt to contact her to obtain a license was ever made by any of the defendants.
4 The work was fully credited to her in prior authorized uses in a book and museum displays BUT the production here credited the image to another photographer giving rise to a Lanham Act Claim for false attribution;
5/ Unauthorized use continued post filing of litigation.

The case is before Judge Stein in the USDC for the Southern District of New York. The complaint is available on line. No answer has yet been served.

Very truly yours,

Edward C. Greenberg, Esq.

@Rolake, with the denial of a license, he is forced to create his own or maybe look to get other licenses on par with Vogue i.e. Harper's Bazaar etc.

Thanks for your participation in the discussions.

Cheers,
Uduak

@Rolake- Agreed with the wife comment. As to punishment, arguably, he hasn't been punished yet. He has only gone through Scotland's equivalent of an arraignment (initial short court formal proceeding where charges against a defendant is read). . . Nevertheles, his arrest could be seen as punishment for maybe challenging the authorities who showed up?

I am sure tby September we will no more details on what really happened.

Cheers,
Uduak

very helpful article.

Most Africans tend to favour established foreign brands over home-grown brands.
I don't see why we need a Vogue Africa, we do not need anyone to validate our worth.
Instead, let's develop existing mags (Flair, Arise...) or create new ones. Mr Epanya obviously has the passion and creative mind needed to run his own world-class magazine, I suggest that he consider going this route
