Fashion GPS Raises $4 Million in International Push | Fashion Finance Law by Annabelle Gauberti #Fashionlaw

Congratulations to Fashion GPS who just announced it has raised $4million in its Series A financing from Iron Capital, among other investors. I have had the opportunity at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Weeks to use their digital tracking product to calendar the shows I attend and cover  at fashion week, and indeed it is a very cool and effortless product.

It used to be that as a Fashion Journalist, I would receive my assignments for all of the shows I would be covering for fashion week. There were many shows to cover in one week and between covering shows, tracking down designers for one-on-one interviews, attending fashion events, meetings and so many more activities, my calendar got pretty hectic and my handbag got quite heavy with all the loose leaflets that I would have to print and take with me for each show.

When Fashion GPS came onboard some years back, I really noticed a true streamlining and easy tracking of my fashion week calendar, and an easier check in process at fashion week both for myself and IMG/Designer staff helping my colleagues and I; and that I also saved paper. 🙂

The company also offers other services beyond digital tracking of calendars at fashion week.

Indeed, I am sharing two videos with you all that I hope you find helpful. One is the video on how Fashion GPS works. The other is a video from my fashion law colleague based out of the UK Anabelle Gauberti who explains, I think rather well, how you the fashion designer or fashion company can go about trying to obtain financing, just like Fashion GPS.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the recent monies raised by Fashion GPS, or any other experience or difficulty you as a fashion professional faces in operating your fashion business.

Cheers,
Uduak

“Fashion GPS, an online software company that specializes in events, samples and other PR management solutions for the fashion industry, announced Wednesday that it has raised $4 million in Series A financing from Ironfire Capital, among other investors. It plans to use the funds to open offices in Hong Kong and Milan, ramp up hiring and accelerate the development of consumer-facing products.

Headquartered in New York, Fashion GPS also has offices in London, Paris, and Sydney. The company’s current suite of products includes GPS Events, which allows users to manage event invitations, checkins and seating assignments; GPS Samples, used for inventory tracking and management; GPS Styles, a lookbook creator for press; and GPS Reporting, designed to help PR professionals asses the performance of a sample or campaign.

This is the second round of funding Fashion GPS has raised. The company raised more than $1 million in seed funding in 2011 from investors including actor Ashton Kutcher, Mediabistro founder Laurel Touby and High Line Ventures partner Shana Fisher. It has been profitable for about a year, founder and CEO Eddie Mullon tells Mashable.”
