Hi Folks,

I have been quite busy hence my limited entries on fashion law topics here on fashionentlaw.com. I do have updates from some of the fashion law events I have spoken at, including Delta College’s ‘Meet the Fashion Industry Insiders’ and the Sacramento Fashion Week Model Workshop where I spoke about modeling and the law.

In the meantime, in a few hours, I will be on Aljazeera discussing the definitions of the standard of beauty,  fashion models and the law and invite you all to please check it out as it streams online. Details follow:

“On Monday, October 22, at 19:30 GMT / 3:30 PM EST:

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but based on Western media portrayals a beautiful woman is usually 180 centimetres and weighs 50 kilograms. As women and men on the covers of magazines become thinner, eating disorders become bigger. So, do you associate being overweight with being ugly? And does this standard dictate non-Western perceptions of the ideal body?

In this episode of The Stream, we speak to:

WHAT IS Fashionentlaw™: It is a law blog discussing hot topics in pop culture that arise primarily out of the fashion industry and intersects/ collides with the law.

WHAT I DO: My name is Uduak Oduok and I am a California licensed attorney who helps creatives and business owners sleep better at night by protecting their creativity and reputation, securing their rights, and helping them with the monetization of their intellectual assets.

WHO I WORK WITH: I have counseled a range of clients from musicians, models, actors, actresses, and designers, to diverse business owners in numerous areas of the law including contracts, business law, fashion and entertainment law, copyright, trademark, and intellectual property law.
