Sacramento, CA -February 14th, 2018 – On Tuesday, February 20, 2018, Sacramento Fashion Week, Northern California’s largest fashion production, will host an inaugural Fashion Law Seminar for local designers. The free event will be held at COWO Campus, 1507 21st Street, Sacramento, California, from 4:00-5:00 pm.
Sponsored by Sacramento based law firm Ebitu Law Group, P.C. (ELG), the seminar will be taught by Uduak Oduok (Ms. Uduak), a partner and co-founder of the firm.
Geared for designers, attendees will learn about the field of fashion law, how to set up a fashion business, how to protect a fashion brand’s intellectual property, the essential contracts every design brand should have, and advertising laws governing a design brand, among other things.
Ms. Uduak is an ex-fashion model turned lawyer whose practice areas include contract drafting and negotiations, business litigation, intellectual property, fashion, and entertainment law. As a lawyer, she has over a decade of experience counseling individuals and businesses within and outside the creative community. She has counseled designers, apparel manufacturers, models, photographers, retailers, graphic designers, musicians, public relations specialists, and athletes, among others, on diverse legal issues including business formation, licensing, trademark and copyright matters, contracts, intellectual property and contract disputes.
Ms. Uduak pioneered the first Fashion Law seminars in Northern California and is a recognized name within the growing niche practice of Fashion Law in the U.S. She has been quoted and has authored numerous published and syndicated articles in national and international magazines and newspapers, and has been recognized by numerous organizations for her contribution to the fashion and legal industries. She is also a legal commentator and regularly invited speaker who has spoken at diverse organizations including SXSW, Fashion Law Institute, The Wharton School of Business, UC Hastings College of the Law, Levi’s, Delta College, California Lawyers for the Arts, and Woodbury University
Now in its 11th year, Sacramento Fashion Week will be held from February 18th through February 24th, 2018; and will showcase some of Northern California’s top designers and industry professionals through the diverse events planned for the week.
